"If you are looking to buy residential property in the DC area, Bo Billups is the agent you want to use. He is capable, thorough, patient, and most importantly, totally honest. I was looking to buy an investment condominium or house in DC and Bo was recommended by a friend. Over a period of many weeks, he took the time to assimilate my reactions to properties he showed me to for a good understanding of what I wanted, my risk tolerance, and ultimately, what properties soundly fit my objectives. About 2 weeks in, we looked at a very attractive property that was meaningfully more than I had originally budgeted. I decided to make an offer, which was accepted. Bo asked for the condominium documents, including the last two months of Board meeting minutes. We discovered some issues with the building that were of concern, and I was torn about whether to go forward or pass on the unit. I was leaning towards moving forward despite the issues, and asked Bo's opinion about what I should do. He pointed out several issues that I had not focused on. This was 100% against his self-interest, since he would have been able to quickly finalize and earn a commission on a very expensive transaction. Over the course of the next several weeks, Bo frequently steered me away from properties he thought would not be in line with my goals as an investor. Ultimately, he found me a great unit, slightly under my original budget, that met all my needs. Plus, as an owner of DC residential property himself, Bo knows someone to help with any issue that arises--contractor, designer, rent control and licensing specialists, attorney, etc. The list goes on and on.
